Are you passionate about civic engagement and social accountability residing in Nasarawa State of Nigeria? Do you aspire to make a significant impact in your community? The Social Accountability Fellowship (SAF) program is your opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge, and network needed to drive meaningful change.

About the Fellowship

The Social Accountability Fellowship (SAF) is a novel program of Strengthening Participation, Accountability and Transparency in States (SPATS) project. SPATS is supported through the WYDE Civic Engagement Project by the Kofi Annan Foundation (KAF); European Partnership for Democracy (EPD); Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD); the Oslo Center and funded by the European Union (EU).

The fellowship is designed to empower emerging leaders and innovators in the field of social accountability. Through this fellowship, thirteen (13) SAF fellows representing the 13 local government councils of Nasarawa state will have the chance to participate in intensive training and collaborative learning experiences with like-minded individuals and experts.

Fellowship Highlights

  1. Comprehensive Training: Participate in a hybrid Social Accountability Fellowship (SAF) and Human-Centred Design Lab, featuring interactive workshops, expert-led sessions, and practical assignments.
  2. Mentorship and Networking: Gain access to a network of mentors, industry leaders, and fellow changemakers who will support and guide you throughout the fellowship.
  3. Impact Projects: Work on real-world projects that address critical social accountability challenges in your community, and present your findings and solutions to key stakeholders. 
  4. Certification: Receive a prestigious certificate upon completing the fellowship, recognizing your expertise and commitment to civic engagement and social accountability.

Eligibility Criteria

We are seeking passionate and motivated individuals who:

  1. Are Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35 years (Males, Females & PWDs).
  2. Are residing in Nasarawa State of Nigeria.
  3. Have a strong interest in civic engagement, social accountability, and community development.
  4. Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to driving positive change.
  5. Are willing to actively participate in all fellowship activities and contribute to collaborative projects.
  6. Have basic proficiency in English.

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted by 20th July 2024. Late applications will not be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted after the close of application.

Selection Process

The selection process will involve a thorough review of all applications, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates. Only thirteen (13) successful SAF fellows will emerge and will be notified after successful interviews.
