Overview
The Research and Analytics Officer (RAOF) will play a pivotal role in advancing the PROMAD Foundation’s mission to drive evidence-based advocacy, policy solutions and sustainable development through cutting-edge research, data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI). The officer will support the implementation of the organisational strategy and programmes by conducting high-quality research, collecting data, generating actionable insights, and contributing to policy analysis that aligns with PROMAD’s focus areas, including governance, education, health, social accountability, youth development, participatory budgeting, and socio-economic development, etc.
Job Description
The Research and Analytics Officer will be responsible for designing and executing research projects, leveraging data analytics and AI tools to derive insights, and supporting policy advocacy efforts. The role requires collaboration with internal teams, external stakeholders, and partners to ensure PROMAD’s initiatives and its innovation arm are data-driven and impactful.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Design and Execution:
- Develop research, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, methodologies, and tools to address PROMAD’s strategic objectives and programmes.
- Conduct primary and secondary research on topics related to governance, education, health, public finance, technology, AI and capital projects and socio-economic development.
- Synthesise findings into clear, actionable reports, policy briefs, infographics and white papers, and impact assessments.
Data Analytics and AI Integration:
- Collect, mine, clean, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data using statistical software (e.g., Python, R, SPSS, Excel) and AI tools.
- Develop predictive models and data visualisations to communicate trends and insights to stakeholders.
- Explore AI-driven solutions to enhance the research and analytics capabilities of PROMAD and its innovation arm.
Policy Analysis and Advocacy:
- Analyse existing policies and propose evidence-based recommendations to address gaps in PROMAD’s focus areas as well as government policies and laws.
- Support advocacy campaigns by providing data-driven insights and policy briefs for government, donors, and community stakeholders.
- Monitor policy developments and emerging trends to inform the strategic positioning of PROMAD and its innovation arm.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with RAID team members, programme and communications team, and external partners to align research and analytics with PROMAD’s goals.
- Engage with community groups, policymakers, and development partners to gather insights and disseminate findings.
Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing:
- Train PROMAD staff and partners on research methodologies, data analytics, and AI tools.
- Contribute to thought leadership by publishing articles, blogs, consultancy or presenting at conferences on behalf of PROMAD.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on research outcomes, analytics projects, and their impact on PROMAD’s strategic objectives.
- Maintain a repository of research outputs, datasets, and analytics tools for organisational use.
Requirements
Education:
- HND, Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in research, data analysis and analytics are an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in research design, data collection and analytics, or policy analysis, preferably in the non-profit, development, or public and private sectors.
- Proven experience using data analysis and statistical software (e.g., Excel, Python, R, SPSS, Stata, SAS) and data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with AI tools, Python libraries or machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, NumPy) is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods and policy analysis frameworks.
- Familiarity with the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and policy documents.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in writing reports, policy briefs, or academic papers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and innovative work environment.
- Knowledge of AI applications in development, governance, or social impact is highly desirable.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

The performance of the Research and Analytics Officer will be evaluated based on the following KPIs, aligned with PROMAD’s strategy and objectives:
Research Output Quality and Quantity:
- Number of research reports, policy briefs, or white papers produced annually (Target: At least 4 high-quality outputs per year).
- Stakeholder feedback on the clarity, relevance, and actionability of research outputs (Target: 80% positive feedback).
Data Analytics Impact:
- Number of data-driven insights or predictive models developed to inform PROMAD and government programmes (Target: At least 4 significant analytics projects per year).
- Accuracy and usability of data visualisations and dashboards (Target: 90% stakeholder satisfaction).
Policy Influence:
- Number of policy recommendations adopted by stakeholders or cited in advocacy efforts (Target: At least 5 per year).
- Engagement in policy dialogues or advocacy events (Target: Participation in at least 3 events annually).
AI and Innovation:
- Integration of AI tools in at least one research or analytics project per year, with measurable outcomes (e.g., improved efficiency or predictive accuracy).
- Number of new tools or methodologies introduced to enhance RAID’s capabilities (Target: At least 1 innovation per year).
Collaboration and Capacity Building:
- Number of training sessions conducted for PROMAD staff or partners on research, analytics, or AI tools (Target: At least 5 sessions per year).
- Successful collaboration on cross-departmental projects (Target: Contribution to at least 4 joint initiatives annually).
Timeliness and Project Management:
- Percentage of research and analytics projects completed on time (Target: 90% on-time delivery).
- Adherence to project budgets and resource allocations (Target: 100% compliance).
Knowledge Products and Dissemination:
- Number of thought leadership contributions (e.g., articles, blogs, or conference presentations) on behalf of PROMAD and business units (Target: At least 4 per year).
- Reach and engagement metrics for disseminated research outputs (e.g., downloads, citations, or social media shares).
