PROMAD is looking to employ Creative and Communications professionals with experience and skills in branding and communications in the non-profit or civil society sector.

PROMAD with the registration number: CAC/IT/174016, is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation combining evidence-based strategies and civic technology to bridge the gaps that exist between citizens at grassroots communities and the government to strengthen accountability, transparency, and participatory governance for efficient implementation of project, programs, and policies for sustainable development.

Position: Creative & Communications Associate (CCAS) 

Reporting to: Executive Director
Department: Impact & Communications
Location: Gwarinpa, Abuja
Contract Type: Full-Time, 6 Months (Renewal is subject to funding availability)
Start Date: June 2024

Overview
Do you possess creative and branding skills for project development and nonprofit interventions? Are you aware of the roles of changemakers and how branding and communication help them to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at local and national levels? PROMAD is looking to employ a Creative and Communications Associate (CCAS) with experience and skills in branding and communications in the non-profit or civil society sector. 

The Creative and Communications Associate will be responsible for developing and executing project communication strategies to enhance our organisation’s brand visibility, and reputation, and creatively tell our impact story. The CCAS will produce digital content such as videos, podcasts, graphics, design reports, infographics and visualized data and contribute to managing the organisation’s digital communication assets to tell PROMAD’s programme impact stories. This role will involve managing internal and external communications initiatives, managing media collaborations, and overseeing digital and traditional marketing channels, especially in the civil society or non-profit sector.

On the ground, you will be joining a team that combines evidence-based strategies with civic technology to empower citizens and communities, enabling social accountability and participatory democracy and sustainable development.

Job Description

The Creative and Communications Associate is crucial to effective branding and communications within our organisation and external audiences and partners to generate the desired impact. The Associate will be the promoter of storytelling for our organisation. You will be responsible for crafting compelling messages, managing media collaborations, and ensuring consistent branding across all channels in compliance with PROMAD’s internal frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing project communication plans to meet organisational goals and objectives.
  • Create and brand content for various communication channels, including websites, social media, press releases, newsletters, and marketing materials.
  • Manage media collaborations and relations, helping to cultivate relationships with media partners, design concepts, pitching stories, and responding to media inquiries.
  • Oversee the production of marketing and events materials, such as presentations, and promotional materials, ensuring consistency and alignment with internal brand guidelines.
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage, social media metrics, and website traffic to measure communication efforts’ effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across departments and executive leadership, to align with our key communications strategy framework to meet the organisation’s objectives and priorities.
  • Provide communications support for crisis management and issues management situations as needed.
  • Manage subordinate communications personnel in the impact and communications department.
  • Assist in organising and implementing social media-related campaigns and events, coordinating with diverse partners.
  • Collects and produces content for social media platforms, including in local languages and various formats (e.g. infographic, video, etc.), including proposing topics, undertaking research, writing drafts, production of content (graphic design, audio/video editing, etc), obtaining clearances, editing copy, and coordinating design approval, translation procedures, and distribution.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by senior officers and the Management.

Experience, Knowledge and Technical Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in communications, journalism, public relations, digital communications and marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in communications in the non-profit or civil society sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Experience and network in media relations, including pitching stories, developing and circulating press releases, and managing media inquiries.
  • Ability to creatively curate and tell impact stories for positive change.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management tools, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Creative thinker and designer with an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and multicultural environments.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken). The ability to speak Hausa is an important added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a high degree of cultural sensitivity.

Our Desired Candidate

  • Minimum of 2 years post-NYSC of relevant experience in branding, communications, public relations, or marketing roles, with demonstrated success in developing and implementing communication strategies, especially within a non-profit or civil society organisation.
  • Previous work experience in the Non-profit or civil society sector is an added advantage.
  • Ability to lead and apply creativity with excellent communication and relationship skills; also demonstrating the capacity to prioritise and effectively manage competing work streams and deliverables.
  • Ability to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustration, Adobe Premiere, Canva and other graphic design, audio and video editing tools.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results within schedules.
  • Active social media profiles and a good following.

  • Collaborate with internal teams across departments and executive leadership, to align with our key communications strategy framework to meet the organisation’s objectives and priorities.

  • Develop content to promote active engagement in the online community
  • Assists in the organising and implementing of social media-related campaigns and events.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of communication campaigns on social media platforms by selecting appropriate and relevant excerpts of speeches and statements and coordinating the translation/adaptation of materials from other sources.
  • Assists in public information/outreach and engagement with the public, putting together exhibits based on materials from PROMAD’s presentations, concepts and product development.
  • Assists in managing the development and updating of internal databases; updates content on social media platforms; generates a variety of standard and non-standard statistical and other reports from various databases.
  • Assist in setting up interviews and press conferences for all PROMAD’s projects and activities. 
  • Oversee social media accounts management and matters, monitor and report on the latest trends and developments, respond to queries, and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of PROMAD campaigns’ impact on social media.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by senior officers and the Management.

Experience, Knowledge and Technical Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in communications, public relations, digital communications and marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven track record as a social media manager and experience in communications in the non-profit or civil society sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Experience in content management and knowledge of SEO, keyword and Google Analytics.
  • Ability to creatively curate and tell impact stories for positive change.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management tools, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Creative thinker and designer with an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and multicultural environments.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Diplomatic with strong interpersonal skills, and a high degree of cultural sensitivity.

Our Desired Candidate

  • Minimum of a year of relevant experience in branding, communications, public relations, or marketing roles, especially within a non-profit or civil society organisation.
  • Previous volunteering experience in the non-profit or civil society sector is an added advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Ability to lead self and apply creativity with excellent communication and relationship skills; also demonstrating the capacity to prioritise and effectively manage competing work streams and deliverables.
  • Beginner skills in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustration, Adobe Premiere, canva and other graphic design and video editing tools.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results within schedules.
  • Active social media profiles and a good following.
